We were honoured to have so many renowned Cape Town Food Bloggers over for lunch on Saturday past, as we celebrated our launch at the Foodology Cooking Studio in Kenilworth.
The Like A Chef team was joined by Social Media influencers and Journalists from all over Cape Town, who had so much fun with a cook-off of two of our favourite, expertly designed recipes. (Don’t take our word for it, check out our instagram for all of the pictures!)
Upon arrival,Founder Jolin Judd addressed the guest, thanking them for their time, and explained a bit about the Like A Chef concept.
Jolin presented a pre packed dinner-kit along with a brief insight into the Like A Chef’s Vision. A vision to create an environment where the whole family is included, cooking is simplified and everyone is able to enjoy a meal with the usual stress factors .
The venue, table layout and even Juno, Jolins daughter ( The happy little helper of the day) added to this feel and created a relaxed Afternoon that felt like a get together between friends and family , preparing a simply tasty meal that involved all and created a warm and comfortable afternoon.
The party split into two teams, each with the task of preparing one of the three courses of the day.
The starter, a delicious lentil Bobotie was prepared by our very own Recipe Developer Clinton Morgen.
Clinton led the ladies through the afternoon, hosting and entertaining; sharing his chef inspired tips for the cook-off.
Team One had a blast cooking a delectable Grilled Honey and Mustard Trout. The group worked together, separating the tasks much like a family in the kitchen. SA Breaking News Deputy Editor Alana expertly prepared the trout for the oven. She laid them out and seasoned them, and added the last drizzle of Olive oil before cooking.
The rest of the team chopped the fresh veggies for the sambal, and readied the honey and mustard dressing.
Team Two tackled the Gnocchi with green beans, mushrooms, bacon and Parmesan cheese.
The smell that filled the kitchen once all the ingredients were in the pot was absolutely mouthwatering!
Each one of our guests went home with a meal kit box, with pre portioned chicken and mushroom pot pies!
It was an absolute blast!
